Artistic Director, Choreographer, and Master of Ballet Deanna Schubert founded the school in 1995. Many of her students are now dancing professionally and teaching. Ms. Schubert's dancers are known for their excellent technique, versatility, individual style, and great dance ability. Ms. Schubert has staged and choreographed many ballets and contemporary works including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Phantom of the Opera, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Kitri's Wedding (Don Quixote), Kingdom of the Sweets (Nutcracker), An American Girl in Paris, and the original ballets Fantasy Forest and Servant Princess. Ms. Schubert started her training at the age of eight in the Philadelphia area with instructors Delores Greco and noted choreographer William Henriques, Sr. At the age of fifteen, she was accepted on scholarship to the school of the Pennsylvania Ballet. While there, Ms. Schubert extensively studied the Vaganova (Russian) Method with John White and Margarita de Saa, now the present owners of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. She also studied with Barbara Weisberger, artistic director of the Pennsylvania Ballet, Michael Lopaszanski, and Joan Beard. Locally, Ms. Schubert became one of the first principal dancers with the Dance Theatre of Pennsylvania (formerly the Bux-Mont Dance Theatre). Ms. Schubert continues to serve the art by giving freely of knowledge, inspiring her students, and developing a superior ballet and dance program.
